Rick Bolus
Rick Bolus is considered by many to be one of the nation’s top prep basketball gurus. It is hard to beat his level of experience considering that he will be entering his 36th season as a basketball scout and 29th year as an exposure basketball camp director. Bolus has a remarkable dedication to the game of basketball, which is supported by the fact that he attends over 400 basketball games a year. He is no doubt one of America’s most active and experienced basketball scouts.
Bolus is a member of the Naismith Board of Selectors Prep Player of the Year and Street and Smith All-American Selection Committee. He is also a consultant for several national basketball tournaments, shootouts, and all-star games. Over the years his basketball camps have seen the attendance of more than 28,000 players including numerous McDonald’s All-Americans and countless All-Staters nationwide. It is also worth mentioning that 3 out of 4 teams in the 2005 Final Four had performances by Bolus’ former campers.

Bolus was recently featured in the book, How to Raise an All-American, which was authored by high school and college All-American and former NBA player, Devin Durrant. He appeared in 2002 on CCN and CNN Headline News in a feature about a rising high school star. He has done color commentary for Insight Communications “High School Game of the Week” and has been a guest on many different talk shows throughout the country.
Bolus was once co-host of a live call-in television show, Fullcourt Live, and he served as player selector for 5 years for the McDonald's Derby Classic All-Star Game.
Bolus was a 1972 graduate of Boston College and played for the legendary Chuck Daly who coached the 1989 and 1990 Detroit Pistons to consecutive NBA championships. Bolus was the nation’s third leading scorer as a freshman at VMI before transferring to Boston College. Bolus coached high school basketball for 8 years. He has been married for 34 years to Shela Bolus and together they have two children, Chris and Josh.

Doug Huff Camp's Player Analyst
Doug Huff is the nation’s most experienced and prolific high school sports journalist. Since 1975, he has been a national high school contributing editor for Street & Smith Magazines, the nation’s oldest and most widely circulated sports preview publication. He originated and compiles the pre-season Street & Smith’s All-America selections and team reports for boys’ basketball, football and baseball.
Huff also coordinates the selection of All-America teams for Parade and EA Sports/Student Sports. He serves on the media nominating board for the McDonald’s All-America Basketball Game and the Gatorade state and national “Player of the Year” selections.
Huff’s national rankings have been used by ESPN (Scholastic Sports America), The Sporting News, Fox Sports Net and the Associated Press. His story or column byline has appeared in Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, Sport, Basketball Times, Basketball Weekly, Letterman, National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Courtside, Joe Namath’s National Prep Sports, National Federation of State High School Association’s “High School Sports”, Athlon, New York Times and USA Today.
Huff has been featured in stories in numerous publications, including USA Today and the Associated Press, and has been quoted in the NCAA News and in over 50 newspapers. He has authored four books on high school sports, contributed to over 50 other books, and has authored over 300 national magazine articles.
A member of the Basketball Writers of America, Huff currently resides in Wheeling, WV. He will be at camp to assist the camp director, Rick Bolus, in evaluating the players.

Steve Smith is beginning his twenty-third year as the Head Coach of the Oak Hill Warriors. His overall record at Oak Hill is 684-40, amounting to a winning percentage of 95% while playing the top teams across the country. Coach Smith’s winning percentage is the highest in high school basketball history.
Coach Smith was named the 2004 National High School Coach of the Year by USA TODAY, and he is the only coach to have received this honor three times. Smith was previously acknowledged in 1994 and 1999. His teams have claimed seven mythical National Championships (1993, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007), and they have been runners-up five times as well (1990, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2006).
In Smith’s 22 years at Oak Hill, 22 of his players have been selected as McDonald’s All Americans-more than any other high school in the country. Smith has also coached twenty NBA Draftees. He has served as head coach for the McDonald’s Capitol Classic (1989), the Jordan Capitol Classic (2002, 2007), the Dapper Dan Roundball Classic (1991, 1994), the Kentucky Derby Classic (1991, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2003), The NIKE-Chicago Sun Times All-Star Classic (1993), the Magic Johnson Roundball Classic (1994), and the McDonald’s All-American Game in St. Louis (1995). Coach Smith has spoken at numerous basketball clinics and camps across the United States, and also in France, Italy, and The Netherlands.
Smith is a 1977 graduate of Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, and received his M.S. from Eastern Kentucky University.

The master teacher-coach-motivator-clinician has a winning percentage of over 90% and 325+ wins during the past eleven seasons at NAIA powerhouse, Georgetown College. He is one of the winningest coaches at any college level and his 1998 squad won the prestigious NAIA National Championship and was National Runner-Up in 1996 and 2000. He has guided his Georgetown College Tigers to eleven consecutive post-season NAIA tournament appearances, which is a record among NAIA coaches. The High Potential/Blue-Chip Camp is truly fortunate to have this nationally known coach address the campers on opening night.

Ron Harrison is a free lance writer and publisher of www.kyprephoops.com, a free web page on high school basketball that has over 400,000 hits. He will provide camp coverage on the internet which will be available to coaches, players and fans across America. He will also assist the camp director, Rick Bolus, in evaluating the campers.
